The California Sustainability Alliance (the Alliance) is designed to help meet the State’s aggressive energy, climate and other resource and environmental goals by increasing and accelerating energy efficiency in combination with complementary green measures and strategies.
In addition to energy efficiency, the Alliance's scope includes climate action, principles for "smart growth", renewable energy development, water use efficiency, waste management, and transportation management.
The underlying premise of the Alliance is that we can make a lot more progress with what we have to invest, if we first align the goals, objectives and interests of key stakeholders needed to attain "success" in each targeted sector. It is not easy—it takes a lot of work to find those potential points of alignment, and then to develop and implement the portfolio of programs and services needed to precipitate market transformation.
Once we find that alignment, however, we have the ability to leverage the combined resources, assets and relationships of many stakeholders towards our shared goals. In this manner, we stretch our energy efficiency dollars to reach many more stakeholders as we engage their interest and participation in accessing the full bundle of sustainability benefits.
