The City's CNG vehicles.

The City continually replaces its diesel trucks with compressed natural gas (CNG) and hybrid vehicles and also requires its solid waste hauler to use alternative-fueled trucks. Cathedral City has a City-owned CNG fueling station to encourage the use of alternative fuels.

In 2011, the Cathedral City Civic Center HVAC system was retrofitted with energy efficient water pumps and fans, in order to maximize comfort and curtail excessive energy output.

The ECD also partners with Southern California Edison to inform local businesses and residential homeowners of tax incentives and money-saving energy programs, such as effective window replacements and one-dollar LED light bulbs, which participants can install in their home or office buildings to conserve energy and cut operating costs.
