Solar panels on an LAHP property

In addition to adopting policies and strategies to promote holistic sustainability throughout its properties, LAHP has also incorporated cutting edge and high-efficiency technologies to realize its green vision. LAHP uses building orientation, configuration, window positioning and spatial programming to minimize heat gain/loss, maximize cross ventilation, and optimize natural ventilation. To understand how a building will fit within its environment, LAHP’s design architects utilize REVIT Architecture’s three dimensional building modeling and virtualization software. The REVIT tool allows for greater, more reliable design development coordination among the design and construction teams on LAHP’s projects. Through more efficient coordination, fewer mistakes are made, time is saved, and public resources are used more efficiently.LAHP also uses the following building and construction technologies to improve the sustainability of its multifamily housing properties:

  • Recycled construction materials to reduce landfill waste
  • Low and zero emissions building materials and supplies
  • Green roofs
  • Bicycle storage
  • Landscape designs using drought resistant and native plants
  • On-site solar power for electricity, heating and domestic hot water
  • Rapid growth wood in community rooms
  • Low flow fixtures and dual flush toilets
