One unique aspect of Riverside’s sustainability portfolio is its sophisticated and user-centric marketing and communications strategy. Through GreenRiverside.com and BlueRiverside.com the community of Riverside has access to information on the city’s environmental goals and strategies, programs, rebates, and studies. Hosted by the Riverside Public Utilities, these websites have become a hub for communication between the city and the residents. Some of the innovative features and links on the Green and Blue Riverside websites include:

  • The Riverside City Solar Map, which illustrates the growth of municipal and residential solar installations by providing location and detail information of the 128 solar projects, and growing, within the city. These installations together produce up to 1,598 kW of clean energy, enough to power nearly 400 homes.
  • Energy and Water Efficiency rebates for home appliances, lighting, insulation, landscaping and many other energy-saving purchases.
  • Solar rebates, including a step by step process for residents interested in installing renewable energy systems a their homes or businesses, links to solar installers, and applying for and receiving solar rebates.
  • Waterwise Landscaping, which provides helpful tips on what to plant in the Inland Empire climate and how customers can design a water efficient landscape.
  • The Green Power Report Radio Show, which educates listeners on green and sustainable living. This project began in February of 2007 and is funded with Riverside Public Utility Marketing Funds.
  • A Sustainability Workbook, which highlights Riverside's sustainability programs and shows residents simple actions that they can undertake to reduce their own environmental impact.
