BPCP’s Sustainable Project Process
The steps of BPCP’s Sustainable Project Process are as follows:
- Education: Facility Directors meet monthly for peer-to-peer learning and training.
- Audits: CCSE conducted energy audits in the Park.
- Identify Priorities: Based on audits, institutions identify opportunities and choose project focus areas.
- Identify Incentives: BPCP and SDG&E partnered to create an Incentives and Rebates program to discount energy efficiency projects.
- Identify Funding: BPCP and SDG&E partnered to create an On Bill Financing option and BPCP applied for federal stimulus funds (EECBG).
- Implement Projects:Institutions have completed over 40 projects in the Park saving an average of 5.4 million kWh annually.
- Showcase Projects: BPCP and Facility Directors share achievements at meetings and events for Park staff and the public.
- Identify Awards: BPCP applies for awards like the 2010 Showcase Awards to pass on the collaboration message of Balboa Park Sustainability Program.
